Use DV4 from your AI assistant

Ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or your coding agent for a video. DV4 plans it, films it and adds sound, and your assistant brings back the link when it's ready.

Set it up

Every assistant uses the same address. When it asks, a DV4 page opens: sign in with your DV4 account, check which app is asking, and choose Approve. You don't need an API key.

https://stage.dv4.ai/mcp

This address moves to https://dv4.ai/mcp when DV4 launches. Connect again with the new address then.

Chat assistants

ChatGPT

On the web, with developer mode

  1. Turn on developer mode in Settings → Apps → Advanced settings. Whether you can depends on your ChatGPT plan.
  2. Open ChatGPT's plugins, choose +, then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it DV4, paste the address as the Server URL and choose OAuth.
  4. Create it, then sign in to DV4 when asked.

Once DV4 is in ChatGPT's apps directory, you can add it from there instead.

Any other assistant: add the address the way it adds remote MCP servers (streamable HTTP, OAuth).

What it can do

DV4 is an MCP server, the standard way AI assistants use outside tools. It has five tools; your assistant picks the right one from what you ask.

Make a video create_video
Makes a video from a written description: a filmed video or motion graphics, landscape, vertical or square, at the length you ask for. Uses one video of your plan.
Check a video get_video
Says how far a video has got. When it's done, gives the links to the video and its poster; if it failed or was refused, says why.
List your videos list_videos
Your recent videos with their status.
Cancel a video cancel_video
Stops a video that is still being made. It can't be resumed, so your assistant should ask you first.
Plan and usage get_usage
Your plan, how many videos you have left this month, when they start again, and what your plan allows.

From an assistant, DV4 makes videos from text only. To add your own pictures or soundtrack, use the DV4 app.

Every video uses your plan's credits

A video made from an assistant is the same as one made in the app: it uses credits for each second delivered, by model and resolution, follows your plan's limits on length and quality, and goes through the same safety checks. Free includes 90 credits a month, about five 15-second 720p videos; Plus, Pro and Business include more (see pricing). The month runs from the day you signed up to the same day the next month (UTC). Your videos also appear in the app, where finished videos are kept for 30 days.

Things to ask

  • "Make a 10-second DV4 video of a barista pouring latte art at sunrise, vertical."
  • "Use DV4 to make a 15-second landscape video of waves on a rocky coast at golden hour."
  • "Make a motion graphics video with DV4 announcing our summer sale, 20 seconds, square."
  • "Is my DV4 video ready? Send me the link."
  • "List my last five DV4 videos and say which ones failed."
  • "How many DV4 videos do I have left this month?"

Good to know

  • A 30-second 1080p video is usually ready in about five minutes. Ask your assistant to check on it, or open the app.
  • Motion graphics, longer videos and higher quality depend on your plan.
  • DV4 never makes sexual or adult content or real public figures; see the Terms.
  • Streamable HTTP, with MCP protocol versions 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18 and 2025-03-26.

Questions

Do I need an API key?

No. Your assistant opens a DV4 page, you sign in with your DV4 account and choose Approve. The address is all you paste.

Does it cost extra?

No. Videos made from an assistant use your plan's videos, like videos made in the app.

Where do my videos go?

To your DV4 account. Your assistant gives you the link, and the video is in the app too, for 30 days.

What can the assistant see?

Only what the five tools return: your videos' status, details and links, and your plan's usage. See the Privacy Policy.

How do I disconnect DV4?

Remove DV4 from the apps, connectors or MCP servers in your assistant's settings. Your videos stay in your DV4 account.
